84th Oscar Adapted Screenplay Updates (2011-2012 Awards Season) (9/30/11)

Here are today’s rankings for the 84th Oscar Adapted Screenplay race (2011-2012 awards season), with previous ranking shown in parenthesis after each entry.

I could see either The Descendants or Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close winning this, but went with Payne’s team for now.

My list also feels a bit too commercial, as the writers love to throw in some independent films. I’m thinking Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Carnage, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Drive or My Week With Marilyn might surprise here. Or possibly Jane Eyre, One Day, The Flowers Of War, Wuthering Heights or A Better Life? Let me know in the comments!

New Poll: What Should I See Next?

Last week I saw Drive and Moneyball. (Reviews coming soon.)

I’m thinking that Take Shelter and 50/50 are at the top of the list, but perhaps you’ll surprise me? Vote for your favorite in the comments.

50/50; Abduction; The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975; Bunraku; Circumstance;

Dolphin Tale; Dream House; The Guard; I Don’t Know How She Does It; Killer Elite

Love Crime; Machine Gun Preacher; Mozart’s Sister; The Mill And The Cross; My Afternoons With Margueritte

Mysteries Of Lisbon; Point Blank; Restless; Sarah’s Key; Senna

Straw Dogs; Take Shelter; Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil; We Were Here; What’s Your Number?

If your favorite movie isn’t here, feel free to recommend it anyway. It’s possible that it is not showing in my area, or that I have already seen it, but it’s also possible that you’ll become my new best friend for having recommended something new.
