87th Oscar Sound Mixing First Entries (2014-2015 Awards Season) (9/19/11)

The Sound Mixing category is interesting to watch. Sometimes they track fairly closely to the Best Picture nominees (as at the 83rd Oscars where 4 out of 5 sound mixing nominees were also best picture nominees), while other times they go their own direction (as at the 78th and 79th Oscars, where none of the nominees matched up.) In doing my research, I also couldn’t help but notice that some of the most talked about best picture snubs of recent years did receive nominations here, including Dreamgirls, The Dark Knight and Star Trek.
