New Poll: What Should I See Next?

Last week I saw Martha Marcy May Marlene (Read my review HERE.)

This week, the film with the best awards chances would probably be Like Crazy for a possible Original Screenplay nod, followed by Puss In Boots in the animated category. The most artistic film is probably Almodovar’s The Skin I Live In. And the film that looks like the most fun is undoubtedly A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas, starring John Cho, Kal Penn, Neil Patrick Harris, Jesus and Santa Claus!

If your favorite movie isn’t here, feel free to recommend it anyway. It’s possible that it is not showing in my area, or that I have already seen it, but it’s also possible that you’ll become my new best friend for having recommended something new.

  1. Undoubtably "Margin Call." Just watched the film on VOD last night, and it just might be one of the best films of the year. Incredible performances, incredible direction, and an (almost) incredible script. This film is absolutely, well, incredible. Can't recommend it enough.

I'd also like to give a mention to "Ra.One." It's not playing near me so I probably won't get a chance to see it before it leaves theaters, but as someone who as never seen a Bollywood film, it looks like a good introduction to the genre. The acclaim its been getting helps too.

  2. Thanks David. Several people have mentioned Margin Call, so I may try to check it out. I've been wondering to myself whether it might be the type of film that could sneak into the screenplay category. (The acting and directing ones seem like more of a stretch to me, only because of the big names at the top of those lists.)

Ra.One totally surprised me, as I hadn't heard anything about it until I saw it show up in the film listings. It looks like it could be a good adventure film, and the poster makes me think of Tron. (But that could just be the color scheme.)

  5. @Anonymous, Thanks for the link. I saw the list on another site as I was about to go out last night, and wondered about some of the inclusions, Your link helped me clarify that these are just the submissions, so we still may have some disqualifications. I'll likely update my predictions later this week, but still wonder whether Tintin will make it or not.

@F.Franklin, These all do sound good, and from what I've heard about weekend I don't think I'd be bothered by the plot. Now to see which one my movie watching partner wants to watch!

  8. So, did you checked out the review? I was waiting for a comment from you for like 4 days....

  9. @Anonymous, Sorry to make you wait. I was traveling the last few days and didn't have access to my computer that translates for me.

I liked how you explained the (VERY Complicated) plotline, and like the idea that they did a spy movie that is about spying, instead of explosions.

Now I just have to wait for another month before it comes out near me!
