Also loved the tree of life.
AjAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1361012654645694959.post-32110827060988400422011-09-20T21:05:34.545-07:002011-09-20T21:05:34.545-07:00Thanks for this great tip. I've been reading up on Albert Nobbs, but hadn't heard much about the score, so this is great to know.

Since you've seen it, do you agree that both Close and McTeer are in the running for nominations? I'm thinking that Academy members will watch the film because of all the buzz that Close is getting, and then discover McTeer in the process (presuming that she's as good as the reviews are saying.)

Thanks again for the tip about the score. Some of the other films on this list have come and gone since I made it, so there will definitely be room to add this in my next round!NeverTooEarlyMPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06971628452385566511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1361012654645694959.post-59198020981799591082011-09-20T20:39:55.964-07:002011-09-20T20:39:55.964-07:00Score for Albert Nobbs was really subtle/clever. I'm still fairly new to the Oscar prediction game, so I'm still learning which former nominees and winners are mistakes and which ones are the new academy favorites.

I saw Super 8 after having made these predictions, and agree that it will likely move up in my next round. Haven't seen Rango, but I will be seeing Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes tomorrow, so I'll listen extra closely for the music!

My thought on The Artist was that the score might need to be extra good if it is compensating for an absence of dialogue, and that the composers might want a fresh face in the mix. But I also admit that I was probably influenced too much by the Cannes buzz.

Thanks too for the spelling help. I try to proofread, but since I'm still learning many of these names, it's sometimes hard to know which are my own spelling mistakes and which are simply names I'm not used to. I've fixed it above.

And thanks for checking out my blog!NeverTooEarlyMPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06971628452385566511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1361012654645694959.post-51414555961429971532011-08-06T15:02:44.539-07:002011-08-06T15:02:44.539-07:00Really, the top rankings should go to Giacchino fo...Really, the top rankings should go to Giacchino for Super 8, Zimmer for Rango, and perhaps Patrick Doyle for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Every composer in the top rankled section besides Howard Shore and John Williams do not deserve it... ESPECIALLY Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Hands down, their win for 2011's oscars was a mistake.

P.S:

It says 'Garry' Gregson-Williams for 'Cowboys and Aliens. It should be 'Harry'.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
